20 Gauge 2-1/2″ Brass Box Brass Hulls
DWD considers all their components “factory fresh”. This means they are made to the same standards as their factory loads. All shotshell brass hulls use large pistol primers. They were designed for use with cork, fiber or cardboard wads and are ideal for use with blackpowder.
Special Note about DWD Brass Hulls: These hulls were designed for use with shotguns with a chamber 2-1/2″ or longer. The hulls are cut short so they’ll fit in shorter chambers. The length in the description was designed to make it easier for customers to search on the product.

20 Gauge 2-12 Brass Box Brass Hulls
Be sure to check over the shells when you get them. Out of six boxes, I have had three malformed (creases the length of one shell and two with folded in mouths) and one 28gauge berdan primed. Even with those problem shells, these are fantastic shells! As a test, I loaded one shell, fired it, reloaded it and fired it again 30 times in succession. Outside of needing fouling to be cleaned out every time (pyrodex) it functioned without any issues and ejected the thirtieth time just as flawlessly as the first, this in an old single shot that will not eject a single plastic cartridge after firing. I use 16 gauge fiber cushions and cards in the 20 gauge shells sealed with white glue. I cannot rate these shells less than five stars, given the two unusable shells (mouth folds were able to be straightened) these shells are still the best value for long lasting, well performing shells I have ever encountered.
First step is to ream all the flash holes. Only three out of the box weren’t ragged and deformed. This is cowboy loading….you can’t expect factory perfect unless you make it so. That aside, these are terrific shells! Really adds the finishing touch to a period firearm!As the other fellow mentioned, these guys are *thin* but they’re well tempered so they don’t give off a “flimsy” feel. Make your own fiber wadding cutter die and punch some from 12 Ga stuff. Nothing I had here on the bench fit well enough that I would be comfortable in using it.Unless you’re full-length resizing after ever shot, these guys should last a *long* time.
